Updates

Whoa! How did I lose track of this for so long?! Well, I'm determined to post at least once a week if not more, especially since I've decided to start a Day Zero Project

But first an update about little man Toshi!! I can no longer call him baby Toshi sadly. Although he's a ball of fun now that he can move around (aka run) and understands so much more than I ever expected, I kind of miss those tiny days when he fit so snugly in my arms. Now his feet hand off the arm of the chair and his head is propped up on my raised arm. What happened to my baby?! ;_;

He's still in the 97th percentile for height and head and is only in the 50th percentile for weight. I have a strong feeling he's going to be tall like me but thin like Acy. We'll see though, he seems to be changing every day!

He got his first facial bruise and scratch yesterday while playing with dada. His head still rules the direction which his body will go and he just toppled over right onto dada's ankle bone. Poor buddy. Luckily he's a tough cookie and didn't really cry- just looked surprised. The scratch he got was from an adorable little puppy- we didn't even notice until bath time so it's not horrible at all.

We're still waiting for him to say something other than "dada" "mama" "bapa" "uh-oh" and "nana" (which to him means banana) and "ba" (which to him means bath). We actually have someone coming over to evaluate him and help me with ideas on how to get him up to speed, especially since he doesn't really point things out.I'll let you know how that goes.

He loves his baths and being outside. He's started to faux cry and whine when it's time to go inside which is actually kind of adorable. He's also become the boy who's such a boy and loves wheels and trucks and cars despite the fact that I did all I could to avoid that by trying to steer him more towards animals. Oh well. Boys will be boys no?

As for myself, I joined a running club called Moms On The Run and it starts in a couple of weeks. A former Borders co-worker did it last year and she's had great success with her weightloss goal and I really need something to kickstart mine. I realized that I totally have "Skinny Girl Syndrome" in which I look in the mirror and think I look decent. Then later I'll see a picture and just wince in pain. I know I wasn't moving much after I had Toshi and staying home with him day in and day out. Hopefully being part of a "team" will help hold me accountable and help me get my butt in gear 'cause I want to set a good example for Toshi as well as get into a zone where it'll be healthy and ideal to have another child.

Acy's as busy as ever and has been published quite a number of times since Masu Sushi and Robata has opened but he's been able to get two solid days off a week consistantly which has been really nice. I usually volunteer at a teen clinic on one of them though so it's still difficult to fit things in that we want to do together. We really need to scout out a regular babysitter for those rare nights he has off to fit in a date once and a while ^.^; He hopes to run about five marathons this summer but hasn't been able to fit in much training....

Other than that, life is pretty quiet for us. Mom and dad will be back in mid-April (in about a week) and Jimmy and Beth will come back just before then. It's so nice when they're all home. We can hang out, they can babysit a bit for me, and I just have someone to look to. It's sad to say that as I've gotten older and had a child, I've found that I don't have a lot of friends or people to hang out with or even the time! Hopefully things will fall into place a little more this year though... here's hoping!!
